Challenge

The client identified several operational challenges in existing hospital workflows:

1

Reliance on paper-based records leading to data fragmentation

2

No centralized system for patient information, images, reports, and medical history

3

Difficulty in scheduling appointments and tracking treatment plans

4

No single system for recording medicines, equipment, consumables, and types of exams

5

No way to share information between providers and with other medical professionals

They required a unified healthcare platform, such as a web-based healthcare system, to unify patient care.

Solution

We built a web-based Patient Management System that consolidates patient information and makes data easier to understand.

Web Portal

The modern Patient management software included the following key modules:

  • Integrated Patient Records:
A unified database that securely stores demographics, medical history, and even images - giving clinicians instant access to complete patient information.
  • Appointment Scheduling:
One screen for doctors and administrators to book appointments, select exam types, and view schedules. Manual work disappears, efficiency takes over.
  • Exams module:
Exams module contains information about patients and their treatments. It includes images and videos of the treatment that are necessary for the patient, as well as the dosages. In this module, doctor can effortlessly generate the pdf, excel sheet and Hemodynamic reports of the exam.
  • RoleBased Access Control:
Team members see only the PHI (Protected Health Information) they need, keeping patient records safe and work moving quickly.
  • Auxiliary Clinical Tables:
Structured data for medicines, consumables, equipment, room assignments, diagnostic procedures, and patient prep protocols - giving administrators full operational visibility.
  • HL7/FHIR Integration:
The patient system supports standardized and secure healthcare data exchange with external networks and healthcare platforms, ensuring patient records are accessible and protected.

Security, Compliance & Governance

Security and compliance were foundational—not an afterthought.

  1. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across administrative modules
  2. Secure authentication and session management mechanisms
  3. Encrypted data storage and secure transmission protocols
  4. Structured audit logs for activity monitoring and traceability
  5. Support for HL7/FHIR interoperability standards
  6. Scalable framework for adaption to healthcare data protection requirements
How We Built It

The system was built for security, EHR transparency, and reliability.

Frontend: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML
Backend: ASP.NET MVC (C#) Framework 4.5
Architecture: MVC with NHibernate
Database: Microsoft SQL Server
Platform Type: Web-based application

Results That Mattered

The Patient Management System delivered tangible operational improvements:

  • Centralization of patient information for hospitals and clinics
  • Improved appointment scheduling and clinical workflow efficiency
  • Accurate and complete medical records for better decision-making
  • Improved secure access control for healthcare staff
  • Enabled data exchange with other healthcare systems through HL7/FHIR standards
Dashboard
"This Patient Management software provided us with a structured and reliable digital foundation for clinical operations
- helping us to move from paper chaos to connected care.
It streamlined patient workflows, improved data visibility, and enhanced coordination across healthcare teams." — Director, Healthcare IT Consulting Firm, Portugal

The Patient Management System changed the way hospitals work by moving from paper to a platform.

  • It helped with clinical workflow automation, enabling clinical staff to access a set of patient data accurately.
  • Administrators gained real-time visibility over schedules, assets, and workflows.
  • Seamless scheduling and better patient visibility are the other highlights of this patient system

Plus, the system could communicate with external healthcare networks, removing the wall that had long separated the client's hospital partners from broader medical collaboration.
